President and Founder: As founder and CEO, Nancy Arnold is responsible for defining and maintaining the strategic direction of Arnold & Associates.  She is actively involved in day-to-day operations of the firm including financial planning, project estimating and specification writing, project design, research and development, marketing and sales and human resources.  Prior to founding Arnold & Associates, Mrs. Arnold worked as an executive assistant for a consulting firm engaged in providing regulatory compliance advice in support of manufacturing facilities for production of pharmaceutical products. In this capacity, she was responsible for coordination and review of all facility design specifications and submittal of other project related data to clients and domestic and foreign food and drug regulatory agencies.  Mrs. Arnold is an active member of the National Association for Female Executives.

Edward L. Arnold, CPWC, RWC - Carrollton, Texas

Vice President and Co-founder: As co-founder and Vice President, Mr. Arnold is actively involved in Project Manager, Design Review, Construction Manager, Roof Inspection Supervisor, Infrared Supervisor, Vertical Curtain Wall Waterproofing Evaluation, Roof Evaluation and Constructability Review.

 

During the past 21 years Mr. Arnold has been involved in the analysis of roofing, waterproofing and glass curtain wall problems on a wide design range of industrial and commercial high rise buildings. Mr. Arnold has performed consulting work for numerous architectural firms, many involving new construction. However, retrofit and restoration projects are his area of expertise.
 

Notable projects of which Mr. Arnold has had the honor to be awarded Project Consultant are: Waterproofing Consultant for the State Department Building, Washington, D.C.; Roofing Consultant for the Smithsonian Institute, Washington DC; Waterproof and Roof Consultant for the Bethesda Country Club, Bethesda, Maryland; Roof Consultant for the roof replacement of Parkland Memorial Hospital, Dallas, Texas.


Presently, Mr. Arnold is the national waterproofing and roof consultant for all facilities owned by Cooper Tire and Rubber Company, Federated Department Stores/Macy’s East/Macy’s West. Regional clients are Foley's, Tenet, Inc., Metrocrest Hospital Authority.
 

As a Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC) and as a Registered Roof Consultant (RRC) Mr. Arnold is a member in good standing of the Roof Consultants Institute (RCI), the Construction Specification Institute (CSI), the American Institute of Plant Engineers (AIPE), American Society for Testing Material (ASTM) and the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA). Mr. Arnold attends seminars and studies publications to further his knowledge of design and material changes. Courses completed with The Roofing Industry Educational Institute (RIEI) are:

 

1) Roofing Technology;

2) Roof Inspection, Diagnosis & Repair;

3) Quality Assurance;

4) Preparing and Enforcing Specifications.

 

Presently, Mr. Arnold is a faculty member of RIEI.
 

Currently, he is responsible for evaluation, design, cost projection, project management and scheduling of individual projects totaling between 5-7 million square feet of retrofit roofing and over 1,200,000 square feet of waterproofing, restoration and glass curtain wall work.

Michael L. Cogburn, AIA, Architect, CSI - Coppell, Texas

Associate: Mr. Cogburn is a registered architect in the State of Texas. Since the early 70's, he has been involved in hundreds of architectural projects as an intern architect and later as a registered architect.  Mr. Cogburn has developed a keen sense of project management through his experiences with construction technologies. His expertise in specification preparation, construction administration and construction systems problem resolution has been invaluable.  His skill in fostering consensus among owners and in many cases multiple groups of client representatives where multifaceted design problems and budgeting constraints were at issue is highly regarded.  Mr. Cogburn's expertise includes problem solving, scheduling, budgeting, and quality assurance among others.

 

Mr. Cogburn has directed a significant number of exterior restoration projects of multi-million dollar scope including roofing, masonry, concrete, and stone veneer restoration, plaza deck design/restoration and water infiltration correction as well as curtain wall, window system, and other glazing system correction projects throughout the United States and Canada.

 

Mr. Cogburn is an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Texas Society of Architects, AIA Dallas Chapter, and the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), and National Trust For Historic Preservation.

William G. Hobgood III, Senior Consultant - Coppell, Texas

Associate:  As an Associate, Mr. Hobgood’s responsibilities include Project Management, Design Review, Bidding and Contract Negotiation, Construction Administration, Roof Evaluation Services, Design and Construction Review, Construction Problem Solving, Leak Investigation, and Waterproofing Evaluation and Design.

 

Mr. Hobgood came to Arnold & Associates with over 15 years of real estate, construction, and project management experience.  His experience as the Owner’s Representative for a wide variety of project types, from retail, office, industrial and historical restoration and renovation projects has provided him with extensive expertise in roofing and waterproofing. Project scope has ranged from site selection, design, specification, construction documents and project management for new construction, renovation and expansion projects.

 

He managed the regional offices of design and construction for three major Corporations and has managed Project Managers and support personnel. Through his diverse career as a department manager and project manager he has developed his skills in communications, problem solving, budgeting, scheduling, quality control, value engineering and management.  He has the proven track record of bringing projects in under budget and on schedule.

 

In the years 2000 and 2001 Mr. Hobgood had the responsibility to provide construction management consulting services on three large international projects. The construction of a manufacturing facility in Bangkok, Thailand; a Technical Center and Testing Lab in Toyohashi, Japan; and an addition to a manufacturing plant in Matamoros, Mexico.

Sydney N. Singer, Architect, Senior Consultant - Dallas, Texas

Associate:  As a registered architect since 1991, Mr. Singer has been involved in a diverse range of architectural new construction and renovation projects in the residential, institutional and hospitality markets.  His command of administration and oversight of building construction using a wide range of materials from wood frame to steel to concrete is of great value to our clients in need of roofing systems and exterior waterproofing consulting. 

 

Mr. Singer's skills in scheduling, budgeting, management, quality control, problem solving and communications ensure that each project is completed on-time and on-budget with specified quality standards.

Gary L. Mitchell, RRC, RRO, CCCA - Richardson, Texas

Associate:  Mr. Mitchell holds registrations as a  roof consultant, roof observer and is registered in construction document technology. He is affiliated with the Roof Consultant Institute, and The Construction Specifications Institute.  In addition, Mr. Mitchell holds a Chief Engineer License from the State of Minnesota, Class I Water Distribution System and Class I Wastewater Collection from North Dakota.  Mr. Mitchell is also a Qualified Special Inspector Structural Masonry, Masonry Industry QC Committee.

 

Since 1962, Mr. Mitchell has developed his skills with a broad range of experiences including designing, repairing, surveying, project management and inspecting all types of roof systems.  He possesses that rare mixture of technical expertise, outstanding management and leadership abilities that enable him to deliver major projects on time and under budget.  Mr. Mitchell is highly skilled at leveraging the power of computer-based project management and CAD (Computer Aided Design) systems to assist him.

 

As an Associate, Mr. Mitchell is engaged in a number duties that include Project Management, Design Review Construction Manager, Roof Inspection Evaluation, Design and Construction Review, Construction Problem Solving, Leak Investigation, and Waterproofing Evaluation and Design. Mr. Mitchell is also a Certified EIFS Inspector (CEI)

Theodore J. Suzuki, P.E., Senior Consultant - Kaneohe, Hawaii

Associate: Mr. Suzuki is a structural engineer practicing in the field of consulting engineering in the State of Hawaii since 1973 and has designed and directed many structural design, wind studies, and repair projects throughout the State of Hawaii and military projects in the Pacific area.  He is a licensed structural engineer in the State of Hawaii.

Mr. Suzuki has performed and directed exterior restoration projects, structural evaluations, designed building repairs, performed insurance reviews, and provided litigation support. His experience includes the analysis, design, and detailing of residential, commercial, resort, and industrial structures for both new construction and the renovation and rehabilitation of existing structures. He was also responsible for military projects in the Pacific area, and has provided structural design services for buildings in the Republic of the Philippines, Guam, and the Marshall Islands.

Mr. Suzuki has undertaken wind studies in conjunction with West Wind Laboratory in Carmel, California, to determine glass and cladding pressures, frame design forces, and user comfort criteria for pedestrian plazas and malls exposed to wind. He has evaluated and designed repairs for structures damaged by Hurricanes Iwa and Iniki.

As part of his graduate school requirements, Mr. Suzuki has performed research on the creep and shrinkage behavior of normal-weight and light-weight concrete manufactured with Hawaiian aggregates. In addition, he served as a lecturer at the University Hawaii School of Architecture for ten years.

Jared W. Filbeck, Architect
Associate: Over the past twelve years, Mr. Filbeck has had the opportunity to experience a broad range of Architectural projects. He has participated in the design, management, and production of many different types of Institutional & Commercial projects including both renovation and new construction. His varied experiences have helped to develop his problem solving skills, which he uses to achieve creative solutions. With each project, Mr. Filbeck brings thoroughness and an attention to detail that directly benefits his clients. His role as an Architect enables him to look at each project holistically as well. The combination of these attributes helps him to deliver projects that satisfy the client’s needs.
